Sex and Gender Reporting Policy

Cancer Biome and Targeted Therapy supports the Sex and Gender Equity in Research (SAGER) Guidelines and encourages authors to consider sex and gender, where relevant, in study design, data analysis, interpretation, and reporting.

Authors are encouraged to:

• Indicate whether sex and/or gender were considered in the study and describe how these variables were addressed
• Report sex-disaggregated or gender-disaggregated data where appropriate
• Explain when sex- or gender-based analyses were not performed or were not applicable
• Use the terms “sex” (biological attribute) and “gender” (sociocultural or identity-related factor) accurately and consistently

When relevant to the study design or interpretation of findings, authors should discuss the potential influence of sex and gender on the results.

Manuscripts that do not address sex or gender considerations in contexts where such factors are scientifically relevant may be returned to authors for clarification or revision during editorial assessment or peer review.
