Dual Use Research of Concern (DURC) Policy

Cancer Biome and Targeted Therapy adheres to international guidelines regarding Dual Use Research of Concern (DURC), research that, while intended for benefit, could be misapplied to pose a threat to public health, agriculture, the environment, or national security.

Authors must disclose whether their submitted research involves any aspect of DURC. The editorial team reserves the right to:

  • Request additional information or institutional oversight documentation.
  • Consult with biosecurity experts or institutional biosafety committees,
  • Decline publication if the risks outweigh the potential benefits or if responsible communication cannot be ensured.

The journal follows the US National Science Advisory Board for Biosecurity (NSABB) framework and the World Health Organization (WHO) guidance on DURC.
